THE HEART OF A CHILD

Little children are wonderful and a wonder. God selected them to teach us vital and never to be forgotten principles of truth. Following are two passages that we should commit to heart.

"...And a little child shall lead them" (Isaiah 11:6).

"And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in their midst, and
said: Except you become as a little child, you shall not enter into the
kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 18:2, 3).

I heard this endearing story. How pure; how innocent it is. "A four year old was at the pediatrician's office for a checkup. The doctor looked down her ears with the autoscore and said: 'Do you think I'll find Big Bird in here?'

The little girl stayed silent.

The doctor took a tongue depressor and looked down her throat. He asked: 'Do you think I'll find the Cookie Monster down there?'

Again, the little girl was silent.

Then, the doctor put a stethoscope to her chest. As he listened to her
heart beat, he asked, 'Do you think I'll hear Barney in there?' Then, the little girl responded:

'Oh, no!' 'JESUS IS IN MY HEART. Barney is on my socks!"

How about that? The faith of a little child. The next time you are tempted to question, remember the words of Christ. "Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein" (Mark 10:14, 15).

I love children. Sometimes I act more like a child than an adult. I know
that we are to grow and not remain as children (I Corinthians 13:11), but in many ways, their traits must remain with us. Listen to this last passage.

"Like as a father pities his children, so the Lord pities them that fear
him" (Psalm 103:13). I am so proud to have God as my Father. I know that He loves me and that I love Him.
