"...the churches of Christ salute you..."
Romans 16:16

GOD IN OUR LAND

We have been hearing so much concerning the separation of church and state, that I am compelled to say a few words.

On July 8th, 1776, the Liberty Bell rang out from the tower of Independence Hall in Philadelphia. The Bell rang to summons citizens to hear the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence. The Liberty Bell was ordered in 1751 to commemorate the 50th anniversary of William Penn's 1701 Charter of Privileges.

Inscribed on the Bell was a quotation from Leviticus 25:10 (the Bible), "And you shall hallow the 50th year, and proclaim liberty throughout the land unto all the inhabitants thereof." The words: "Proclaim Liberty through out the land unto all the inhabitants thereof" is cast in the Bell.

I suppose if some had their way, that quote would be forever removed. But our founding fathers all agreed to Divine Providence in all they did in establishing our beloved nation. They were not perfect by any means, but don't ever let the disturbers get their way. Our country was founded on the Mosaic and Christian ethic. Our founding fathers believed in the True and One God.

Ben Franklin said: "if the very hairs of our head are numbered and He knows every bird that falls from heaven, then He certainly knows and approves of what we do this day."

Patrick Henry, that great patriot, not only said, "Give me liberty or give me death", but he also said: "It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists but by Christians, not on religions but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ."

Also, lest we forget...52 of the 55 founders of the Constitution were
members of some organized church in the colonies.

Have you ever wondered why these above quotes and facts are never heard? Well, it is not politically correct to thus speak! Therefore, what is here said will by some be dismissed as foolish, but I am in good company. The majority of folks still believe, as did most of our forefathers, in the God of heaven. I am proud to be in this country where the Bible is still held aloft.
