This congregation is actively seeking men to serve as elders.  These will be the overseers of the church at W.S. Young Drive. and be selected by the membership of the body to be its spiritual overseers. In the New Testament Church, Christ, through the Holy Spirit, designated this work.

If you would like to study about scriptural elders, then you may do so by carefully reading about their qualifications in 1 Tim 3 and in Titus 1.

The terms elder, bishop, overseer, pastor, presbyter, and shepherd refer to the same office in the New Testament Church (Acts 20:28; Titus 1:7; 1 Pet 5:1, 2; 1 Tim 5:17; Heb 13:7, 17).

Also, the congregations were overseen by a plurality of elders (Acts 20:28; Phil 1:1; Acts 14:23).

These men will deal in the area of expediency. This means that they will not make laws. They will understand that the law governing the New Testament Church has already been set forth by Christ and His apostles. The elders are to tend, superintend, and govern the churches in order that peace and unity might prevail. They are charged with caring for souls. As a shepherd tends, feeds, and watches for the flock, so it is with elders in the local churches of Christ.
